7 protesters arrested hours before Islamic leaders meeting opened.
BOGOR, Police arrested seven protesters in front of Bogor Palace in West Java hours before President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono was scheduled to open a two-day international meeting of Islamic leaders in the city.
Some 50 students demonstrated in front of the place to protest the Indonesian support to the United Nations Security Council sanction against Iran.
The students were involved in minor clash with police officers when they tried to approach the Bogor Palace, the venue of the meeting attended by representatives of 11 countries.
The participants are Shiite and Sunni clerics from Iran, Iraq, Egypt, Jordan, Malaysia, Lebanon, Pakistan, Syria, Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Indonesia. They are expected to find the best solution to on going violence in Iraq.
